When combining with existing uses, M Square will total up to 2 million SF of space and be valued in excess of $200 million. It will contain state-of-the-art
research, laboratory and incubator facilities dedicated to the advancement of technology, computer science, mathematics, engineering, physical and life sciences
and biotechnology.
Already, M Square has been selected to be the site of the National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) global weather prediction
center, as well as
the Center for Advanced Study of Languages, a partnership between the University and the government.
Upon completion, in approximately 10 years, M Square will provide employment for thousands of researchers and staff and substantial annual property tax
revenues. Furthermore, M Square tenants will have unique opportunities to collaborate with the University of Maryland's internationally recognized researchers and
over 3,600 graduate assistants. They also will have unparalleled access to the many major labs and agencies of the federal government and corporate research
enterprises nearby such as Food and Drug Administration Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (FDA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and
American Center for Physics (ACP).
